Weddings

We are very pleased to hear from any couples wishing to get married in one of our churches; in addition to residents of the parish and those on the church electoral roll of regular worshippers, former residents or worshippers, or those baptised or whose parents or grandparents were married in the church, or whose parents live in the parish are also now entitled to marry there (final decision on these lies with the Rector – for further information see here).

Once contact has been made and a right to marry in a particular church established, couples may expect to have several meetings to discuss and explain the service, including a rehearsal near to the day.  Charges for weddings are shown here.  Before a wedding a formal announcement, known as banns, is normally made in the church where the wedding is to take place (and where the couple live, if that is different) – this is an opportunity for couples to make themselves known to the church in worship and to be prayed for as they prepare to make their commitment.
