Worship

In the tradition of the Church of England, Christians worship God together in regular patterns (liturgies) – these allow space for all to take a part and help us to shape our worship rightly towards God, whilst enabling the gifts of differing individuals to be drawn out.  The intention across the parishes of Ariconium is to maintain a variety of liturgies, to meet the expectations of differing groups within a common life of praise.  Our services are drawn from three main sources.

The Book of Common Prayer – the foundational text of the Church of England, legal since 1662, is the basis for services of Holy Communion (noted as ‘1662’), Mattins and Evensong across the benefice, using familiar traditional forms in reverent language.

Common Worship – the contemporary (2000-) liturgical book of the Church of England, providing structured worship in modern language, with a richness of seasonal and alternative texts, used for most of the mid-morning and festival Communion services, and some others.

Informal Services – some services, such as the Family Services, Hope Mansel’s Village Praise or Lea's Children's Church, are more open in structure, including traditional texts from the above and other sources, but allowing greater freedom and interactivity in worship.
