Six Parishes

The Benefice of Ariconium covers a sweep of beautiful Herefordshire countryside, bounded by the Forest of Dean and the tree-topped crown of May Hill to the south and southeast, high ground to the northeast and open to look across Ross-on-Wye to the Welsh mountains.  The ridge of Linton forms the Severn-Wye watershed, and Hope Mansel lies up a valley of the Forest to the south.  The Roman town of Ariconium stood on the low Bromsash ridge in the centre of the area – at Eccleswall Court are the remains of what is believed to be its church, dedicated to St David.)

Main through routes are the M50 and A40.  As across much of Herefordshire, many of the villages do not have a strong centre and there are many scattered hamlets, such as Bromsash, Pontshill, Phocle Green and Aston Crews.
There are schools at Weston-under-Penyard and the Lea, a village shop, garage and post office at the Lea, and part-time post office at Linton, a garden centre at Bromsash and six pubs, as well as many small businesses and farms.
